So I was sitting in bed reading, trying to just relax before going to bed. I was listening to some music and my IPOD shuffled to my 80's playlist. Next thing I knew I was rocking out to Whitney's "I just wanna dance with somebody" and "Let's hear it for the boy" and Amber's favorite, deBarge. It sooooo made me miss you crazy girls trying to pick up gay men and the lei lounge and universal. I saw some pictures from Vegas - I want a recap!
I've been good here - kinda busy not with work, but just with trying to enjoy myself =) I only work mornings, and I just started classes with my Chinese tutor two days a week in the city. I've been flaking lately on my teaching yoga because I've been really tired, or because of holidays, or because I'm just not in. I spend half my time in actual Beijing, visiting my friends, or going out with my co-workers. I've also been trying to see different parts of the city I haven't seen yet, and I also just started my weekend job. I'm a test examiner for this one British standardized test (kinda like how people take the TOEFL if they want to study in an English-speaking country) and I administer the speaking portion. It's a lot of fun, fast-paced, and I earn some good money from it. And soon they'll start sending me to other cities in China on the weekends to do it. So that's exciting, and also eating up my time. And I just went to a job fair last Saturday as well, to try and line up a job for next school year. I'm definitely not staying in Changping (even though it's kinda nice and quiet - my friend and I went for a long bike ride here, and then went on a hike on Sunday), because I need to get away from teaching high school for a while. I never thought I'd miss the education system in the US and even standardized testing, but I do. So I'm gonna try and make my life easier by teaching university students or adults, which is what I'm applying for, and I have a few interviews this week already.
So that's what I've been up to. Having a blast here, but I do miss you. One of you needs to get a webcam and a mic so we can have a group chat sometime.
Oh! My parents are coming to visit me when they go to the Philippines in May. Could you guys do me a huge favor and burn some CD's? I miss being up to date with music! I'm in the process of acquiring fun gifts for you guys...he he.
